Is there a discount for having lots of dents?

May 24th, 2010

Yes!  The first dent on a vehicle is likely to cost in the range of $80-$100 for a small door ding for atlanta paintless dent removal.  Yet if you have multiple dents, it will not cost you $80 per ding.  Very often we can go around a vehicle and repair all of the dings in it for $200- $300.  Extreme cases could be more.  Light damage could be less.   We offer a great value, and usually charge less than the brick and mortar shops in town!  We also offer the convenience of coming to your location!

What is that white/yellow plastic board that you hook to the car?

April 9th, 2010

One of the questions that I hear the most while I’m actually doing a job is about the “dent board”.  We use a suction cup to hang this plastic board to the car.  In and of itself, it does nothing.  It is not  actually “doing” anything.  We use the black stripe on the board as a constant reflection that  we see while we look at the dent.  When I am repairing a dent, I am looking at the dent, but I am seeing the reflection of the stripe on the board in the shiny paint of the dent.  (As a side note, I cannot repair dents on paint that has no shine!)  You can imagine that as the metal is bending out from the pressure I am applying with my dent tool, the reflection of the stripe would be bending along with it.  I use this bending reflection to tell me where my tool tip is.  (my tool is behind the metal, pushing outward, so I can’t actually see the tool tip).

The only other use for the dent board is to use one of them as a shade-board.  Sometimes I use two boards, one as described above, and one to put shade on the dent itself, in sunny conditions.  This enhances my ability to see the dent and my tool tip behind the dent. Appliance Dent Removal – Stainless Steel

March 31st, 2010

I have been asked to remove dents in a lot of unusual things!  The strangest dent I have removed is in a coffin, a copper coffin!  I actually had pretty good succes too.  The most common request is stainless steel appliances.  It is terribly frustrating for people to get a ding in these expensive refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers.  Unfortunately I have never once had success in removing dents in these appliances.  So after many attempts in the past, I have given up on appliances.  People that call and ask about appliances are understandably disappointed when I tell them I can’t help them.  The reasons that I cannot do the repair have to do with the construction, and materials differences between cars and appliances.  There may actually be dent guys that have found success in repairing appliances, although at this point I’m going to stick to cars and coffins!  Thanks for reading.  Atlanta dent removal…..

Do the dents come back?

March 18th, 2010

No!  For 999 out of 1000 dents, they will not come back, ever.   Some times we are asked to repair dents that really shouldn’t be repaired with paintless dent removal.  These severe dents have actually stretched the metal of the car.  When we repair these dents, the metal actually comes out too far, creating a slight bulge.  This is the kind of dent, which if slightly hit, can pop back in.    These dents don’t usually repair well, and I steer people away from repairing them.

Will the Dent Repair 100% ?

March 11th, 2010

Yes, most of the time.  Most of the minor door dings and dents that we are asked to remove, will repair completely.  By this I mean that you will not be able to find where the dent was when we are  done.  Not every dent repair technician can say this.  Paintless dent removal is an art, and takes years to master.
We are asked to repair some dents that are severe, deep, or sharp.  Some of these dents cannot be repaired 100%.  We can often achieve a great repair, but not one where no evidence can be found of our work.  We are always able to tell a customer in advance what level of repair can be achieved.  We always guarantee your satisfaction on every repair.  We know you will be impressed.

Can you repair crease dents?

March 10th, 2010

YES.  We are often asked if we can do crease dent repair.  A crease is any dent that has a linear shape.  Crease dents can be caused by something dragging down the car, or from a long straight edge (door edge etc.) hitting the vehicle.  The answer is yes.  It is not the shape of a dent that will limit a paintless dent removal.  It is more often the severity of a dent that will cause it to be unrepairable with paintless dent removal.  We can even repar a crease that crosses a body line, or character line on a car!  We always guarantee your satisfaction with any repair!  We serve all of metro Atlanta.

Diy – Do it yourself paintless dent removal

March 8th, 2010

Can’t I just fix this dent myself?   I think that is a reasonable question.  If you google “do it yourself dent removal”, you will find a lot of advice and ideas.  It has been pointed out to me that us paintless dent removal technicians make dent removal look easy.  This might convince people that they repair a dent the same way.
I have some advice on this. But one major warning.  If you are going to try to fix a dent yourself, don’t do it by pushing from behind the dent.  This almost always results in damage that can’t even be repaired by a professional afterward.   If you are going to try anything, I recommend buying a small suction cup and pulling on the dent.  This is honestly the only method that will create positive results for a non-professional.
I have seen a hail damaged vehicle that someone tried to repair with dry ice dent removal.  The metal around each dent felt as if it was tempered.  The metal was too hard to push the dent out.  (I believe that the dents did shrink though).  Also each dent had scratches all over it.  I suppose this was from rubbing dry ice on it!
I bought and tried an as-seen-on-TV dent puller.  I truly believe that this will only create an improvement on very minor, very light dents.  The kind of dents that don’t bother most people.  If your dent is strong enough to bother you, I bet it won’t repair with one of these.
I do believe that the hair dryer and upside-down duster dent removal method will work for a very few dents, but these are the same dents that will repair with the suction cup that I mentioned.
Most of the dents and dings that bother people enough to repair, cannot be repaired well by a novice.  I know this sounds like a self-serving opinion for a dent repair technician, but it is the truth.
